Happy Dearest Allie Three

Allison had her third birthday. This is her tribute:
She was excited. Then she was nervous. It is a lot of pressure having a birthday, these days.
Traditional birthday sign (from my childhood), traditional breakfast cereal (from Jake's), and traditional flowers from Daddy (new).
New Great Idea this year was to make cupcakes for everyone (which is popular now anyway) but a little cake of their own, with their name and candles; which especially works for the most flamboyant kid-spittle candle blower.
And, of course, another cake. For her to eat and "help" with during the day and hours leading up to the big moment.
I thought it was pretty tasty, too.
As far as presents go, she was shocked at the fine gesture saying,
"Oh?! For ME??!" at each one.
Then by the last paper torn, she was shouting, "NEXT!!!"
She takes to this princess thing well. It was her day!
She was so loved!
SHE IS SO VERY LOVED.
Sweetest Birthday wishes for a wonderful year of learning, growing, and pure joy for you, AllieCat.

Allison Expression

Nuggets of Truth as expressed by resident soon-to-be-three year old.

If one is to be at work, one must "Do Lunch" with friends.
We're all different and indispensable.
And if one is being low-key at home, one should also get "glammed up," even if only for one's self.

Wisdom.

That's Just Great! (lots of pictures)

We had an amazing time with our holiday together. Some plans fell through, others stayed the same, and some weren't plans at all, but a luxury: a spontaneous day trip to a place we'd never been.
We went clam digging with the Jarvis's for New Years.
Jake's fascination with clams: not so great.
Frying clams in panko: Great.
Allison practicing the perfect circle: Great (never mind the rest).
She drew a perfect... spiral on the otherside.
Praise from mom: Great.
Port Hadlock and Chimacum on a calm winter's day: Great.
The hair acorn not falling far from the tree: not so great (sorry, kid).
Plucky Americana: Great.
"Parking lots:" Great.
Realizing I had a wide angle lens to play with this whole time: it depends on how you look at it.
(Fort Flagler, Port Hadlock, WA)
-Watching a three-year old naturally run like a maniac: Great. She's beautiful at it.-
_____________
Exploring with the Navigator,
the Captain,
and the.... Guardian,
Pretty Dang Great.
I think we all could have had a tantrum putting that day to an end: It Was Just Great.
(Though it did break hers and our hearts just a little.)
