Drum roll, please.
--you see that title photo right above here?
With the buds on the branches. Ya.
Guess what, those rose bushes are dead.
The season begins as I officially proclaim, "Gardening is an Experiment!"
It is the sounding caveat-phrase that I can heap all my dead plants into, brush my hands of it, and walk away with a theory.
I have no idea what I did or didn't do right or wrong with "those of the rose."
They were like that when I got back from vacation. So I'm assuming the weather dipped low and long enough...
But coming back to Wood House & Home, I surely did know there would be other things in Unrest.
Crashing their symbols and marching onward.
And so begins our time outside.
Our unfurled banner is the Blue Blanket: the rhythm to our picnics,
cuddletime, and
playful sneakiness.
It's always outside, starting now.
My version of roses this year (hostas). Bravo!
I immerse myself in the prospect of surrounding myself with moments like these.
Absolutely, I consider these blue-eyed lovelies as part of my band:
No tune without The Good Sisters.
And I hope they know they're Students right along side me
and come up with pretty good warm weather compositions of their own.

Two Chicks
Two very bored little chicks.
This is an exposé on what bored little chicks do when there is a break in the clouds and not quite so chilly. (And mom has to accumulate pictures over a few days so she can blog. Sorry for the delay.)
Chalk:
Outta control--the hair I mean.
"Dress up" Laundry-style
"Splunking in the Storage."
On face.
Wait! Quick! It's not too bad, cook dinner outside!
Op. I feel drops. Breeze. Back inside. Apparently the Chocolate will see us through.
...A luscious Spring?...
We're chomping at the bit.

And We're Off!
So, Sunday morning I JUMPED out of bed, realizing I have been putting off watering my garden for two weeks.
Ya,
I know.
While I was out there, our nice back-fence neighbors caught me in my p.j.'s.
I was just clomping around in my cute waders, running, yanking, hosing everything down before I dove back inside and got things ready for church. But those neighbors always make me smile and they always give us something. They're retired.
This time, it was three Astilbe plants.
They also made note that they hadn't "seen us out" in a while.
I looked around at our disheveled back yard and replied, "Ya. Sorry you have to look at our yard."
Has it been a busy couple of months for you? It seems like everyone is holding their breath and running to summer. We get some down time- yes, but all the fun programs, events, meetings, and cub scout day camp deadlines--Oh My! Pinewood Derby is always a hit, too.
.. let's just say I'm ready for a weekend with friends.

It's All Here
"Your daily life is your temple and your religion. When you enter into it, take with you your all." --K. Gibran
Yes, there's the stress, the obligation, the payments, the appointments, the pace, the lack of time; there's going to be no denying on my part and I know you can relate. That being said, I have a musing for today, inspired by the changing of the seasons (what thing better?):

My Faves Right Now
...Mentioning I'm ever-pregnant, I have noticed I am keeping a few things close and dear to distract me nicely while I wait (due date is tomorrow). I present to you my favorite things:
First, This Girl. She's perfectly excellent at getting my attention. 'Nough said.
Second, Garden Plans. I love that part.
Third-- I am not ashamed-- the chocolate treats hidden in the baking cupboard. I'm raiding more often as of today. And I've earned it.
My husband's scruff (Center of photo). Exciting. It doesn't happen very often because it drives him crazy. He's doing it all for me.
Oh, ya. And Pillow Mountain. Jake and I pretty much use them All, with a couple of "back-ups" every night. They each have different assignments, but I'll spare you the details. Oooo-Ahhhh. :)

This is One "Springy" Spring
Soon I'll be able to Post of our veggie garden boxes in the back yard. (Yay!)
In the meantime, I've been buying up 69 cent primroses at one of the little grocers we frequent. Can't help it. Bright, fresh, fragrant.
These little potted gems of sunshine promise? They are located at our front door on a little garden bench. "Welcome to All, SpRing is on it's way!" they say.
A certain little person likes to bring one inside each time we enter the house, "Oh, pwiddy-" she exclaims, "Thank you, Awisen!" she says confidently.
... Understanding her instinctive panache for flowers this time of year, I accommodate by ruling they could only go on the table; kitchen or coffee. No worries, it's all good. So just muddy dirt crumbs remain after I place them back as the trophies they are -outside.
This becomes routine, happily enough and time passes.
I tuck the laundry away one regular morning as I go about doing my homey duties.
And, dear friends, I found out just how "SpRingY" Spring can be!
I give you, My Underwear Drawer:
My whities, tilled, planted, and blooming.
Indeed, thank you Miss Allison. Ambassador of Springtime.
Happy Spring to all, and God bless us, everyone!
